Application of adhesive:
Always use clean tools. Mix the material completely, quickly, and vigorously with cold water using a mixing stick or spatula (mixing ratio can be found in the table), and then stir it for a short time (1 minute). Ensure that there is a container of water nearby during mixing. Stir the material after 2–3 minutes and stir vigorously again after about 15 minutes. Now the adhesive is ready for use. The ready-to-use mixed adhesive can be stored in a closed container for up to 7 days.
Preparation of the substrate:
The substrate must be dry, clean, smooth, and sufficiently even to allow wallpaper to be glued to it. It is recommended to use Metylan products for pre-treatment of the substrate. Remove water-soluble or insoluble paints and old wallpapers with Metylan Abloeser wallpaper remover. Treat smooth rough surfaces with a suitable filler. Prime load-bearing, highly absorbent substrates, such as existing and new plaster, except for gypsum board. Prime substrates that release chalk or sand and gypsum board. Before gluing transparent wallpapers, the color of contrasting substrates must be neutralized.
Application of adhesive to the back of the wallpaper:
If the wallpaper has a paper base (e.g., wood fiber), apply the adhesive to the back of the wallpaper using a brush or pasting device. Refer to the wallpaper manufacturer's technical documentation for information on soaking time. Do not allow the adhesive to soak too much into the wallpaper.
Application of adhesive to the wall:
When gluing wallpapers with stable dimensions, the adhesive can be applied either with a roller or with an airtight device to the substrate to which the wallpaper will be attached, in a strip slightly wider than the wallpaper sheet. Then place the dry wallpaper on the adhesive layer. The adhesive can also be applied to the back of the wallpaper without waiting for it to soak. Ensure that a sufficient amount of adhesive is applied. Whenever possible, wallpapers should be glued in daylight, as this ensures that the seams will be less visible. Wallpapers are usually attached to walls vertically. Place the wallpaper on the wall so that it covers the entire intended area or according to the manufacturer's instructions and use a suitable wallpapering tool to squeeze out air bubbles. Wallpapers should not be processed until they are sufficiently dry (depending on temperature and environmental conditions, approximately 12 hours).
Cleaning:
Metylan adhesives are transparent after drying. To avoid differences in gloss and coating defects, adhesive residues on the wallpaper must be carefully cleaned immediately with a sponge and clean water. Clean tools with water immediately after use.
Storage:
The product must be properly sealed and stored in a cool, dry place.
